What is Strategic Canada?

Strategic Canada is a national movement designed to elevate the strategic capacity of our country, one person, one leader, and one organization at a time. It begins with a simple but important question: What does it mean to be strategic in this chapter of humanity, and how can Canadians become more strategic in the way we think, lead, and collaborate?

In a world defined by complexity, transformation, and accelerating change, strategy can no longer remain the domain of executives. It must become a shared capability, something that empowers individuals, strengthens teams, and drives national competitiveness. Strategic Canada aims to explore and define a uniquely Canadian approach to strategic thinking that integrates innovation, productivity, wellbeing, and cultural diversity.

To make this vision real, Strategic Canada advances several core initiatives.
We are launching a National Dialogue to spark conversations across the country on what it means to be strategic today. Through Strategy Education, we will develop programs and workshops that build practical strategic skills across sectors. Our True North Talks will bring together leaders, educators, and citizens to bridge innovation, culture, and wellbeing through meaningful dialogue. Through Policy Collaboration, we will partner with academic, corporate, and public institutions to generate insights and policy recommendations that strengthen Canada’s strategic capacity. In 2027, we aim to highlight 160 Strategic Canadians, sharing stories of foresight and innovation that shape our communities. And as a long-term ambition, we plan to build the Strategic Canada AI, a tool that helps Canadians think and act more strategically using Canadian insights and data.

Strategic Canada is currently in start-up mode, but its potential is much larger. It may evolve into a platform, a consortium, a ministry-supported initiative, or a national non-profit. Whatever form it ultimately takes, the mission remains the same: to build a more strategic Canada and contribute meaningfully to our shared future as Canadians.

Warm Welcome from the Founder

Canada is one of the rarest places on earth. A vast land of peace, safety and extraordinary diversity. A country where people from all backgrounds come together with the shared hope of building a better future. And yet, I believe we have only scratched the surface of what Canada can become.

For over two decades, I’ve been immersed in the research and practice of leadership, culture, and strategy. Through this work, I have come to one clear conclusion: being strategic is the missing national competency of the 21st century. Not just in organizations, not just in government, across our society.

That is why I created Strategic Canada. My mission is simple but ambitious: to help Canada become one of the most strategic nations on earth. Not through slogans or policy papers alone, but by developing a shared way of thinking, what I call the Canadian way of being strategic.

We have a unique opportunity.

With our multicultural fabric, our stability, our talent, and our innovation potential, Canada can show the world what it looks like when productivity, wellbeing, and diversity come together, not as competing agendas, but as reinforcing strengths.

I believe strategy is a human skill before it is a business skill.

When individuals and teams become more strategic, organizations become more strategic.
And when our organizations become more strategic, our nation strengthens from the ground up.

This is why Strategic Canada is designed as both a top-down and bottom-up movement.
A national effort built on research, practical tools, collaboration, and a deep belief in the potential of people.

Together, we can shape a more strategic, innovative, and future-ready Canada, one conversation, one organization, one community at a time.

If you share this ambition, I invite you to join us.
Let’s build the future with clarity, courage, and purpose.

Building on insights from all our initiatives, we aim to develop the Strategic Canada AI, a tool that Canadians can consult to deepen their strategic thinking and decision-making. Building on insights from all our initiatives, we aim to develop the Strategic Canada AI, a tool that Canadians can consult to deepen their strategic thinking and decision-making. This will not involve creating a new large language model, but rather training an AI using Canadian insights, stories, and data, in partnership with a Canadian AI company and a domestic data centre. Over time, this AI will help guide future generations on what it means to think, act, and lead as a Strategic Canadian.
